Fancy spending a dreary Thursday evening mingling with Berlin’s finest new musical talent?
The team behind Preis für Popkultur are offering a pair of free tickets to the annual awards ceremony, taking place this year on 18th October at Berlin Tempodrom. A 791-strong jury – consisting of members of Germany’s music and media scene – have spent months whittling down this city’s ever-expanding pool of world-class musicians into a handful of nominees, competing within twelve categories. From an original mouth-dropping 566 artists, works, and contributions, the few who remain will be celebrated throughout the evening, before one in particular will be honoured as part of the evening’s festivities.
There’ll be one lucky winner of the lifetime achievement award, who will have been determined by a preselection by members of the board, as well as the Association for the Advancement of Pop Culture. It’s not your standard pat-on-the-back glitzy awards show – the Preis für Popkultur is given to artists with a strong focus on their place in German artistic culture. It’s hugely important to recognise and support the incredible and complex musical tapestry of this country, and PFP is committed to doing just that – and hosting a bit of a knees-up as part of it.
