Win Tickets to the Fun Fare Record Release Party at Kantine Am Berghain!

Fun Fare

Berlin-based record label Späti Palace is celebrating the release of Fun Fare’s newest album, “Trifles & Events are your Concern” with two release parties next week – one in Leipzig and one at Kantine Am Berghain, Saturday, February 17th. The band will be supported by Helen Fry and Voodoo Beach.

Fun Fare is an experimental-pop project that was started in Leipzig about three years ago by Friedrich Günther, Julia Boehme, Joseph Heinze and Jakob Zander. The band is known for mixing genres and influences, borrowing extensively from Krautrock predecessors, synthpop, and post-punk, to name just a few.

Since releasing their debut album, Gong Wrong in 2015, their music has been described as sounding like a “controlled experiment” and in 2016 they also put out a split EP with the Berlin post-punk band, Plattenbau.

Supporting Fun Fare, Industrial designer-come-musician Helen Fry is finally showcasing her solo talents after growing up with a more classical-oriented musical background and playing in various collaborations, most notably with “longtime partner-in-crime” Touchy Mob and “analog synth amateur” Slow Steve.

Her strange, spacey EP, Future Light Cone, is equal parts experimental (including sounds made from baskets, cotton swabs, and a neighbours cat in a rural East German home) and smooth rhythms with a touch of R’n’B.

Also playing the Record Release in support of Fun Fare, psychedelic blues-rock band, Voodoo Beach, will give you a break from your Berlin winter blues with their surfy tunes and mesmerizing basslines.
