Name: Aaron Warren
Tea or Coffee? Habitual tea drinker, although partial to the occasional cappuccino. Any chance of a biscuit?
I’ve always been surrounded by music – I’m from a family of musicians, so my introduction was inherent I guess. I got into playing the guitar first and foremost but the passion for DJing, collecting records, and the fascination with production and recording soon followed.
Creative Inspiration – musical and otherwise:
I draw inspiration from anything and everything really- art, science, films, books, photography, traveling. With music I’ve always found it’s more about being able to express yourself, and learning from it in the process – if I can get ideas down regularly, and have a means to express myself musically then I’m content.
Variety is key. It’s all about trying different things I reckon… the weirder, more abstract and diverse the better – the inspiration kind of naturally manifests itself during the whole creative process with music. I think it’s remarkable how ideas can develop from simple experimentation- twisting a few knobs here, automating a few parameters there, chopping up samples… Eventually you’ll find something which you find intriguing sonically, or just happens to be perfectly complimentary or contrasting to all of the other elements within a track.

What are you expecting from the night, have you played in Berlin before?
I’ve never been to Berlin before, so immensely looking forward to selecting a few records, having a bit of a boogie and soaking up some culture. I’m humbled to be part of the first Risin Sound showcase following the release of my debut EP on the label last year.
