We’re very happy to introduce you to a site called beehype. Started in Poland, the idea of beehype is that a collection of music bloggers, journalists and DJs from around the world find the coolest new music coming out of their own countries and share it on the site. The proviso is that each song gets sent to the other contributors around the world and voted on, so that only the best and most interesting stuff makes it onto the site. Looking for something a little eclectic? Want to hear the newest North Korean indie band? The latest beatboxer from the Faroe islands? Beehype is the place to find stuff that is constantly surprising. This is what I call world music!
Oh, and of course we’re also happy that beehype has chosen as their German contributor Noel Maurice from indieberlin to keep the world on the cusp of the cool that is coming out of this place….so bands, artists, musicians, remixers, send us your own music, and everybody, please, send us your recommendations. Whichever we like most we’ll send to the international beehype community and let them make the final cut.
Noel Maurice is one of the founders of indieberlin. Originally from the UK via a childhood in Johannesburg, he has been resident in Berlin since 1991. Describing himself as a ‘recovering musician’, he is the author of The Berlin Diaires, a trilogy detailing the East Berlin art and squat scene of the early 90s, available on Amazon and through this site.
