indieBerlin Presents Melissa Righi and Youth – check it out

Let me see, where did we first meet Melissa…ah yes. Mia ran into her when she was a teenager visiting from Italy, late at night at the Sunday Soiree burlesque show. Looking great, sure of herself, curious about everything around her, Melissa had come to Berlin to get a tattoo done. Mia gave Melissa a lift home, they got talking, and the rest is history.

Inimitable style and jeau de vivre

Some months later Melissa moved to Berlin and we knew she should be involved in indieBerlin, she had such a sense of style and coolness that we put her in charge of jazzing up our fashion section, which she did for a while with her inimitable style and jeau de vivre beffore getting busy with her career as a make-up artist (she works now freelance and for Mac)

Three years later Melissa let drop that she could sing, so I sat down with her and a guitar and was blown away by what a voice she had.

Nothing else for it

We got onto Cameron Laing, who’d recently opened up his brand new studio The Curious Story of the Famous Gold Watch (yeah, a bit of a mouthful, I know) and set up an afternoon of recording.

And here is the first song. A cover of Youth by Daughter, Melissa on vocals and myself on guitar, recorded, engineered and mixed by Cameron Laing and Jaime Molleda at The Curious Story of the Famous Gold Watch Studio in Weissensee, Berlin.
