A UFO Party with Lexodus – a new single from out of space

Berlin-based Lexodus isn’t just a band, it’s an experience.

Unidentified flying objects landed on our planet, and they are ready to deliver a rich and electric live performance. Here is how Lexodus describe their sound: Imagine if The Roots & Snarky Puppy had a baby; then Mike Skinner & Andre3000 also had a baby (tricky, but work with us), and these babies (having grown up a little) both happened to (coincidentally) run into each other at the Berlin love pool and create a happy accident.

The result would be Lexodus.

Rising Hip Hop group, Lexodus, who met in the melting pot that is the Berlin music scene, today reveal their new single ‘X-Files’ taken from their upcoming EP ‘The Cosmic Show’ which is due for release on July 8th .

Recorded and produced at SKID’s Berlin studio ‘The Depot’, Lexodus bring you their meticulously crafted music. SKID says “the intention of The Cosmic Show is to bring something fresh to the hip-hop scene and get away from the mainstream and trap expectations of the genre that’s been taking over the industry, compelling listeners into believe this is the only way Hip Hop should sound”. LxD adds, “The art of storytelling in Hip Hop needs to be brought back to the forefront, Slick Rick and Andre3000 are legends in the game and this is for a reason. Words can create vivid images for a listener and this has been lost.”

The aim of the release is to create something new and exciting. X-Files and The Cosmic Show is trying to bring different influences and ideas of exploration through the music and also trying to not sound like everybody else. Both musically and lyrically detailing how fun music can be and the fact that sound can take you to a whole new world, dimension and universe!

With the band sitting comfortably somewhere between Hip Hop, Funk, Jazz and Rock, their sound fuses together multiple sub-cultures and perspectives – a growth which defines Lexodus as one of the freshest crossover bands in Berlin at the moment.

Lexodus’s brand-new leading single X-files out today represents simplicity layered with rhythmic rhymes and a hint of new school jazz. It’s hard not to wonder what a Lexodus x King Krule collaboration would sound like while listening to X-files. Starting with simple guitar riffs, the track gradually introduces elements of of both live instruments and programmed synths and drums.

what deserves a true round of applause is that in the sea of new wave rappers Lexodus’s diction is beyond perplexing, every word is carefully positioned and pronounced with a precision that makes it a pleasure to listen to.

It tickles you with curiosity of what Lexodus has to offer on the rest of their upcoming The Cosmic Show EP. Could we expect something like an in-depth crazed variety of hip-hop-soul genre interpretations or a focused message playing across the EP with repeating elements complimenting each other? Either way we are down for listening. Perhaps what deserves a true round of applause is that in the sea of new wave rappers Lexodus’s diction is beyond perplexing, every word is carefully positioned and pronounced with a precision that makes it a pleasure to listen to.

Listen to X-files and follow Lexodus on Facebook.
