Sound and Chaos Documentary about Seminal NY Studio in West Germany 4.10
October 4, 2016 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm6€ – 10€
Martin Bisi with his 1978-established Brooklyn studio managed to record Brian Eno, Sonic Youth, Swans, Violent Femmes, Herbie Hancock, the Dresden Dolls, Afrika Bambaata and Fat Five Freddy, among countless others. Slap bang in the middle of both the NY new wave scene of the late 70s as well as the birth of hip hop a few years later, Martin Bisi together with his long-term collaborator Bill Laswell has had the good fortune to be there at historic moments of pop culture.
On 4th October at the unspacious venue West Germany Martin Bisi will present the documentary of the studio, Sound in Chaos, with a Q&A with Martin and the two film makers to follow.
After this there will be performances by Martin Bisi and band plus Berlin-based postpunk duo nunofyrbeeswax.
The documentary is great and absolutely worth watching, and it’s not every night you get to ask questions of both the makers of the film and the man involved in all of the above. Be there.
