Indietronica: The Nocturnes (China) + Unicat (Poland)
May 21 @ 8:00 pm - 11:30 pm€7
The Nocturnes are from Beijing and will be sharing the night with the indietronica duo from Poland, Unicat.
Nocturnes曳取 are an Indie-Electronic band based in Beijing, China. Their music has been described as “emotional”, “sultry”, “atmospheric” and “immersive”, and sits somewhere between the intensity of Foals, the electronic elements of Bonobo and the pop sensibilities of Coldplay.
They’ve released an EP, Dust Into Glory, and an album, Lines Written in Code. The releases were warmly received, with one song being selected for a documentary on national television and another reaching number 1 on the Spotify Viral 50 chart on the week of its release. One reviewer summed up Dust Into Glory as a “sensual concoction of impeccably groomed arrangements, fluid nuanced piano chords and a seamless blend of English and Chinese vocals that linger in the air.” Nocturnes曳取 also covered some of their contemporaries’ songs around this time, with one – a cover of Future Orients’ Running – reaching almost 8 million views on Weibo, Chinese Twitter.
In support of Lines Written in Code, Nocturnes曳取 embarked on a tour of China in mid-2018, playing over 13 cities including sold-out shows in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The band completed a 6-city tour in support of their song Any Kind of Mood in late 2018, and are embarking on their first Europe tour this year, with 9 shows over the course of 2 weeks.
