Berlin’s Leading Queer Party Goes Digital
January 25 @ 10:30 pm - January 26 @ 12:00 am€13 – €18
In a society characterised by predominantly mundane sensual imagery that’s far from representative of the full spectrum of human sexuality, Pornceptual offers a liberating alternative. In their own words, the intention behind the pioneering work at Pornceptual is to challenge the traditional presentation of pornography by presenting the medium as a queer, diverse and inclusive art form.
Since the Pornceptual event arrived in Berlin circa 2013, it has developed a cult-like reputation in a city that is generally regarded as a mecca for open-minded pleasure-seekers. Currently the event takes place every two months and is celebrated as one of the most accessible sex parties in Berlin, if not the world. Operating as an event but also as an outlet for ethically produced and artistically challenging pornography, Pornceptual has one of the most authentic and well curated ethos’ in modern clubland.
With great power, however, comes great responsibility and Pornceptual prides itself on its commitment to consensual interaction during their events. Strict guidelines will never overshadow the hedonistic nature of the night, but respect for one’s fellow partygoers is a top priority and highly emphasised.
Each Pornceptual party has its own theme, and this time it’s Digital. In their own words the event is described as follows:
Sex – and our ideas about sex – have been transformed by technology. This process has opened new sexual dimensions with digital ventures designed to enhance, innovate and disrupt human experiences, allowing us to act out our fantasies with no physical or social limitations. For our next event, we invite you to experiment with textures, sensations and combine creativity and technology. Digital PORN by Pornceptual will explore digital forms of artistic expression and, through them, redefine pornography.
If the perfectly balanced aesthetic and ideological component of the event wasn’t already enough, the organiser’s penchant for cutting edge musical programming really sets it off. DJ’s on the night include New York Industrial Techno legend and Sonic Groove label head Adam X, breakout Serbian star Tijana T, and Milton Bradley’s Alien Rain project amongst a host of familiar faces and local talent.
Attendees might be amused to find that the event takes place at Alte Münze, an ex GDR coin factory. As ever – a reduced entry fee can be ensured by adhering to the party’s long-standing and much lauded dress code policy which encourages and prioritises economy of items at the door.
