Do you know Azzurra’s angel voice? Maybe it’s time you do.

Azzurra – the combination of an angel’s voice & trip hop – live at next week’s indieBerlin Exclusives: Hidden Hinterhof Edition. Don’t miss out on this! (win tickets below)

The Berlin-based Italian woman combines edgy, dark electronic sounds and playful beats with her light and intimate voice. The result is a simple but complete soundscape with no need to make an effort winning listeners over – its wholeness will sweep you right off your feet.

In 2016 Azzurra released her EP Where Are We Going, proving the coherence of her sound in collaboration with the Italian producer, film score composer and guitarist Frederico Ferrandina. Frederico, born into a family of classical musicians, is known for his ability to shape unique soundscapes consisting of both classical instruments and modern synthesisers, drones and drums. This mixture of real and electronic sounds creates a beautiful space for Azzurra’s feminine voice.

Azzurra’s melodies manage simultaneously to be comfortably soothing and plaintively melancholic. The cautious and light nature of her voice easily brings forth associations with Beth Gibbons, the amazing singer of trip hop’s number one pioneer band Portishead. No, this comparison is by no means trivial.

The music is an atmospheric creation of beauty and pain, familiarity and something unknown – ready for discovery. There is no doubt: Azzurra is definitely worth getting acquainted with.
