The members of Current Swell no longer live together under a single roof — as they did years ago, when the group first came together as a unit — but the bond between the four friends is stronger than ever. Touring the world for the better part of five years, from Brazil to Australia, often has that effect. Current Swell’s years of experience on the road can be heard — and felt — in the nooks and crannies of Long Time Ago, the new full-length from this rootsy Victoria, B.C. quartet. The record shifts between upbeat folk (the title track, Long Time Ago) and singalong-ready roots rock (the first single, Too Cold) with a fluidity and ease that could only come from continual touring.

Electro quartet Ghost Capsules can trace their beginnings back to a Bomb The Bass gig in Vienna. Here it was that Tim Simenon, touring the 'Back To Light' album, met his support band that featured drummer Roman Lugmayr and keyboard player Georg Lichtenauer. The three hit it off, so much so that Tim relocated from Amsterdam to the Austrian capital. Here the missing piece for the Ghost Capsules jigsaw was found in singer Laura Gomez, who Tim had booked to play at one of his club nights. Proof positive that there's no business as sociable as music.

After growing up in a small mountain town nestled in the mountains of Canada's West Coast, Eden knew there was much more waiting for her to discover. Since traveling throughout several continents and living in cities such as Vancouver and Montreal, she took advantage of her Dutch background and developed a base in Amsterdam. Shortly after, she started to pursue a career in PR and editorial while studying at Willem De Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. Following this, she completed an internship at Amsterdam's most loved publication: Subbacultcha! Magazine. While working shows, and assisting with editorial, production and promotional work, she also wrote for her own F A M E blog, and frequently wrote for Fier Management[an event management and fashion PR company based out of Berlin].

In the past year Mac DeMarco and his band have become some of the most beloved artists to come of out Canada. His smooth lyrics and saucy on stage presence has made girls (and boys) swoon, while his and his goofy personality has done nothing but improve his popularity. Other than that, he has an awesome band who are equally as hilarious and talented, and they have been touring almost solid since last year. His most recent album (Mac DeMarco 2) has been on almost every music blog from here to Vancouver, yet all this attention hasn't gone to his head. During his recent performance at Privatclub he was accompanied by Canadian crooner Sean Nicolas Savage, and featured an on-stage ballot dedicated to his girlfriend that made my heart melt. I caught up with him to chat about his experiences on tour, favourite artists and lady watching..

Noel Maurice signs to Berlin label Monstermusik

Yes, our very own Noel Maurice has concluded negotiations with Berlin label Monstermusik and his long-awaited third album will be out in Autumn, with a fourth to follow in the spring. After being locked away in his home studio experimenting with new sounds and styles Noel has emerged with a host of new material, using his recent experiments with what he has dubbed Beatbox Folk and working with stripped-down instrumentation.
